thinking about other ways i can reshape and reorganise the veneers.
I thought about forming the wood together in different shapes and then spinning it on the lathe. to achieve an almost marbled effect. I also thought about how to make a phone dock, and how i could best show off the veneer grain.
Ideas for CNC phone case made out of veneer, i thought about using a piece of acrylic in the stack to line up with the phones torch to help refract the light
This is a business card idea, where you scan it, and it will fold itselfe into an arrow and direct you to the location of the business. like a meta game
i really like this, i thought about a quirky way to augment a GPS type system on the phones viewfinder. I giant pin would fall from the sky and direct you towards it.
looking at how i can stack acrylic shapes and creating a further shape inside.
augmenting synesthesia for taste on food labels, just story boarding how it works.
looking at how to aigment individual facets on a low poly face.
starting to think about augmented reality
starting to think about digital diseases, applying these geometric forms to shapes. i like how these look
thinking more delicately about a meshing if shapes, feathers wrapping around give off a warmth.
Just expanding on these ideas, thinking outside the box, i thought about carefully printed cogs that all form together and turn each other when the bottom is twisted. and i also took inspiration from the roman lycurgus cup in that there would be an outter sleeve that utilised negative space over the solid shape.
I gave some thought to making a stand for the horns, I also thought about making a sort of stained window stylised type horn, never got around to figuring out to replicate that shape in that style.
I thought about humourous types of cups and ways we use current cups combined with the old. I also thought about how we used to cup our hands to drink water so i thought about faceting interlocking fingers around the horn.
I thought about old Cardiff, and how I could augment a filter of the viewfinder to get half new image and half old, inspiire by photographers who have done similiar things in photoshop. I also thought about augmented animated graffiti that took on a banksy esque humour to it.
Second Year, BAMS Medal Project
Further Concepts of my medal early on, I think the middle one on the left really inspired my over all finished design, even though I initially didnt think much of it when I drew it.
A possible design for the slabs on top, i thought about using string sandwiched between glass. And the string would sort get more aggrivated or relaed depending on the point on the journey.
Starting to think about the other side of the medal, That Quote by Joseph Campbell really stuck with me. Felt really inspired by Arron Gregorys work.
Problem solving for my 3D model.
Helping me create the 3D model
The placment and design of those slabs, I really thought about how I could use the orientation of the heroes journey chart to inspire this design.
Spent alot of time on this, was a giant pain in the ass, I looked at how I could fake the degredation and tension of the metal being pulled into itself.
I had a decent CAD prototype and I was trying to figure out how I could use the figure in the centre to “pull’ the medal into itself.
Conceptualising oppistes in harmony, And thinking about using the rim to define opposites instead of the less original each side of a coin idea. Angel or life and Angel of death holding each others wings
Further concepts, has a alittle look at greek mythology, The Top is Icarus and the the Minotaur with the labyrinth. and the bottom one was just this idea of a ship in a bottle that had leaked.
Further looking at geometric shapes for the back of the medal.
Further Designs for the front of my medal, I still really like the middle one. I thought about how these arrow type shapes, connote the direction of energy and flow.
I thought about maybe something a bit more illusionary
Starting to apply the heroes Journey chart to a medal deisgn, I thought about having somone pulling the medal in from one side and pushing out on the other side. I still love this idea, but sadly it was a bit to complex for my skills.
Thinking more abstract I wondered if I could visulaise the underneath of a rain drop
I thought about how the medal could be interactive, stick your hand through it, utilising sound perhaps, like an Infrared musical instrument
I wanted to do something that really utilised technology and really spoke of my generation, so I initially thought about layering Acrylic and assigning LED clours via each corner to activate different layers.
